LEBANON COUNTY, Pa. — The Lebanon School Board voted 8-1 during Tuesday night's meeting to censure member William Eckenroth and requested his resignation following a social media post about Puerto Rico.
Post Considered 'Discriminatory'
According to the meeting agenda, Eckenroth posted a comment on social media on or around February 8, stating in part, "The island doesn't have anything to offer at all."
The agenda noted, "The post implied several things which could be perceived as discriminatory."
The board asked Eckenroth to apologize to the community for his comments, removed him from all board committees, and requested his resignation.
Attempts to reach the board for comment have not been successful.
